Description
Released in October 2016 The High Seas is part of the Smugglers’ series Volume 2, a tribute to distillers who outwitted the government representatives while conjuring the famous Arran waters. Its as full of character and life as the figures who inspired it, and is packaged in a fantastic box which resembles a book with a cut out space to hold the bottle. This whisky is matured in a combination of rum casks and first fill bourbon barrels producing 8’700 bottles creating a complex nose of citrus fruits, a touch of the outdoors with seaweed coastal characteristics, orchard fruits, white pepper and dry note of sherry. On the mouth a fizzing feeling of sherbet, fresh spearmint note appears and mixes with warm apple pie. There is tangy lime marmalade with chilli pepper heat and a hint of smokiness, the addition of water shows honey dew melon and sweet pear drops. The finish has the distilleries characteristics shining through with good body and subtle smoke. Hints of apple and citrus reappearing.
